Sometimes faith is a struggle to hold on to, especially when you’re walking through the wilderness – yet at the same time, holding onto faith is the only means of overcoming that wilderness. Faith can be at times, like holding onto a thread. It may be fragile, but it is there. It may be about to tear apart, yet it is strengthened to not get torn. The temptations to let go of faith come at very bittersweet moments and one is not always sure whether faith is the bitter part or the sweet part of the situation. It could be both, It could be none.
The desert ground is a horrible, humid, dry place with scorpions and snakes and sandstorms and mirages…being back-stabbed, strangled, judged by specks in the eyes and illusions that all is ok. But all is no ok. The desert ground is not ok at all. Yet even in a desert, if one endures and perseveres long enough, will find an oasis – that fresh motivation that keeps you moving forward, out of that desert – that delicacy in the midst of death – that delicacy called hope. And that hope which is found because of our perseverance to hold on to faith when it seems like it is failing us.
You see, faith is a funny encounter. It either exposes itself when we believe ourselves to have failed, or it hides itself hen we go through a time where we believed that failure is our second name. Yet what faith does, is either help us realize that we need it or that without it,we might aswell just let go and thirst and shrivel up in the desert all alone, till death consumes us.
The tendency is that faith is the strongest element. Even though love and hope are just as strong with love being the major element, yet without faith, all three will crumble.
when one is unknown to the concept of love, all he has is faith to draw him to higher grounds than himself. When one is distraught, he needs faith to keep him walking. In a way, love is almost the prize of faith. For in faith comes much endurance and perseverance but in faith our hearts are exposed. And when our hearts are exposed, then love can dwell safely there. And if love can safely dwell there, then it is a permanent deal. Love may hurt, but it never disappoints. In love, there is hope, for a better life, for a better future. But all in all, faith is that comfort and discomfort. It is tailored for our needs. It may come across as a pivot point and it may come across as our last resort.
Faith is also the courage we continually need and when we arrive to that point where we realize that it was faith that kept us going, we translate it into a discipline and make it our own motto for life, because through experience, we conclude, that without faith, none can be achieved. Without faith, we arrive to no climax in life and being faithless is the saddest anticlimax one can go through. Yet an anticlimax can also be the future climax.
With faith, we realize that our dreams, visions, goals, have been met. Maybe the route would be different than we expect, but the root is always faith. It gets you through everything and in everything, give thanks – for faith is a life-giving gift that takes us to places beyond our own thoughts and imaginations.
